A Focal Point of Prayer for Vocations
(Sponsored by V.A.S.T. – Vocation Awareness Support Team)
You are invited to join your fellow parishioners in a special ministry of praying for our priests, deacons, religious, married couples, and all those (young and old) who are discerning their vocation. It is called the Elijah Cup.
How does it work?
1. Sign up in the Elijah Cup notebook in the Narthex of the church. Select the date you will attend the 9:30 Sunday Mass and take the Elijah Cup home for the week. Mark this date and time on your personal calendar.
2. Attend the 9:30 Mass on the date you selected. Stop by the Sacristy a few minutes before your selected Mass to assure the priest of your presence. You will be called forward to receive the Elijah Cup at the end of Mass.
3. Take the Cup home and put it in a place of honor where it can serve as a focal point for your specific prayers. During the week, record a reflection or Scripture verse in the journal which accompanies the Cup. There are additional instructions which will go home in the packet with you.
4. Return the Cup and the accompanying materials to the Information Station or to one of the ushers on the following Sunday by 9:15.
Please note: Both the families scheduled to take the Elijah Cup and those who are to return it will be called as a reminder during the week leading up to the designated Sunday.
Please prayerfully consider signing up to take part in this ministry of prayer for vocations.
